Closer To Satisfaction

Here's more of my last post. It's a song I wrote for my Art of Great Songs class. It was suposed to be in the style of Counting Crows. For the purposes of the class I'm done with it but I wrote it in like less than an hour before class today so I might go back and improve some things. Just for my own personal satisfaction.

The Ghosts of Hollywood

I step out into the moonlight and stare into the stagnant sky,
And breathing in the cold air I can't help but wonder why,
That the stars in Hollywood are different but the movie's the same,
And we’re all riding the same track on one big run away train,
And I'm longing for the gloaming that I know will never come again,
So I'll turn back to the movie and try to remember how it began

I’m still reaching for the ceiling of this endless sky,
I’m looking for answers to the questions of how and why,
The Ferris wheel broke down with me so far from the top,
I’m stuck here at the bottom just waiting for the fat cats to drop

The world may be changing tonight,
But tomorrow we’ll wake to same mornings light,
Some days hope shines a little to bright,
So push aside your fear it’s still all right

Looking toward the sky praying for some kind of saving rain,
I’m begging for mercy when it seems like it’s already all been gave,
When this ghost called remembrance comes staggering through the circus town,
He brings an air of seriousity to this world of otherwise clowns,
But soon he will leave again and it’ll go back to fun and games,
So pour me another to help me blur away his name

It’s been two long since this landscape’s seen any sign of life,
Too long since a thing grew without the burden of pain and strife,
Cut down the new life beneath with this bleak frozen flame,
Poison another’s mind just so things always stay the same

The world may be changing tonight,
But tomorrow we’ll wake to same mornings light,
Some days hope shines a little to bright,
So push aside your fear it’s still all right
